Sam Schwartzmiller

Professional Experience

Sam’s journey in land management began after earning a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management from Robert Morris University in 2005 and a Master’s in Public Policy from Ohio University in 2007. He gained his first professional foothold at Chesapeake Energy as a Landman from 2011 to 2013. Following that, he expanded his expertise as an Independent Landman until 2016, when he joined Halo Land Management.

At Halo, Sam has risen through the ranks, starting as a Title Manager (2016–2022), moving into the Director of Operations role (2022–2024), and now serving as COO in 2025. His dedication to professional excellence extends beyond his roles—he is a Certified Professional Landman and an active member of AAPL, OCAPL, MLBC, and Vistage. Sam also contributes regularly to industry dialogue as the author of the Appalachian Update for the AAPL Magazine.

Beyond the Desk

Outside of work, Sam values time with his wife, Erin, and their three children. His hobbies include woodworking, home renovations, and experimenting with braising, curing, and smoking meats. When he's not perfecting his craft in the kitchen, you can find him on the golf course, exploring the mountains, or taking family trips to the zoo. A Zillow enthusiast, Sam is always on the lookout for unique properties to transform.

Sam is fueled by the constantly changing and evolving landscape of the oil and gas industry and the mission to achieve energy independence. He’s passionate about contributing to the modernization and hardening of our infrastructure, ensuring its resilience for the future.
